An OC Family Photoshoot (in the Laundromat)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this family!family-photos-in-the-oc

four-kids-in-the-ocfamily-in-the-ocThis was the session that I ended up laughing the whole way home….and in fact, I still chuckle thinking of four kids under the age of four running around this place. Yikes! I want to be Brandee when I grow up. Just like her. Four kids, calm as a leaf (blown in a hurricane!) At the end of the session I asked them, “wow guys, how do you go anywhere? this is a bit crazy.” and they looked at each other and just laughed. This laundromat was the big family outing of the week.

Thanks for making me the not-so-official photojournalist of this growing family.

Photographing sisters

sister love photography

sister love photography

You see, I have three sisters. Each one loved in such a different way. Twin. Friend. Adoration. To quote Jo from little women (the movie) “I could never love anyone as I love my sisters.” It may be all the terrible fighting you have to practice in order to get through your adolescence together. Serious fighting, Some of our fights were too graphic to even write about on a blog. But after the fight is over, sometimes the very next day, you are sitting there, right next to the one you threw the shampoo bottle at and crying laughing so hard with her that you feel like your stomach muscles are going to break from all the pressure of your giggles, tears gushing out of your eyes in joy, and yesterday forgotten.

So it makes perfect sense that of all the subjects in the entire world, I most love to photograph sisters most. It is a true joy for me, and it brings me back to the love I have for each of my sisters. Such love and friendship, and forever-ness. So special. Thanks Juliana and Haley!

Ah, so sweet, Sister’s are the best! You can fight with them one minute and be hugging the next, No matter how apart you grow, you will always be sisters and the love and memories will always be there! Love this, thanks Noel

  2. michelle nicoloff

ohhhhhh Soooooo sweeeeet! Love it…and I love your sister love message…sooo true! Love you my friend!

  3. Alanalee

you do love that shampoo bottle story!! I guess it’s quite classic! But yes, sisters are the best thing to have, nothing compares…I was thinking about that today, I can only hope that Sonia gets to have a sister to share ups, downs, drama, fights, giggles, hysterical laughter and memories with…

  4. Mali

You’re so right! And Haley and Juliana are so beautiful…. OK, now I feel guilty not giving Kaylie a sister… :)

Bye-Bye Blah blah

RIP Blah Blah. I watched it leave my world yesterday. Not the kind of useless words that mean anything you want it to mean, but you know, blah blah! the hot red thick stuff that oozes out of volcanoes. It came out of CJ’s mouth one play day at the park.
“Mom! Don’t touch the blah blah!” as he pointed to the sand.

I knew this game, although I completely thought that I had invented it. Or was it Pipi who started the don’t-touch-the-ground game? But it was the boy version. When you touch the ground you fall in to red hot blah blah. We even saw a discovery channel documentary about volcanoes so we could learn more about blah blah and where it came from. But as the former teacher, I couldn’t correct that term… so sad that the cuteness of it outweighed any possibility of me actually teaching CJ the correct word. So it went like this ever since.

And then skip to yesterday. Playdate at the park. A spontaneous game of blah blah broke out, and I shouted, “Everyone quick up on the slide, the blah blah is everywhere!” CJ looked at me with the most serious eyes and said, “mama, don’t be silly. It’s LAVA!”
And you know who you are out there. The person who taught him how to correctly say the word. Weather you are four like CJ, or the Sunday school teacher helping him out. Thank you. But just so ya know, I am completely fine with being called “mama.”

A recent session to share: Thanks Aileen. Your boys are so much FUN!!

Location, Location, Location

Yes, it is all about the location for this session. Can you believe how lucky I was to be able to shoot a family session here at this amazing secret spot? Thank you Pamela for being such a great California tour guide, and thanks for the invite into this haven of a beach. Now you would think since I was given the perfect location, I am going to press my luck to ask for a perfectly energetic, sweet and loving family… but I guess it wasn’t too much to ask, cause it is exactly what I got. Thanks guys, it was a blast!

Sweet Olivia.

Thank you Andrea and Doug for having me over to photograph your precious Olivia. She finally fell asleep, and we didn’t waste a minute once she was, squishing her and moving her to get all the shots we were hoping to get. Thanks Andrea for a fun morning, and good luck to both of you on your next big adventure!

Sometimes when photographing children…..

i feel like a child myself.

This tent is a replica of so many tents I made with my siblings in our back yard. We made tents, forts, camp-outs, you name it! The story was the same each time, just with different blankets and friends. We spent hours trying to set up a massive and complicated structure, barely getting the fort to hold up with us inside it. Then, we would plan for hours what we would need in it, getting our sleeping bag and items for the night. Of course all with the full intention of sleeping in it all night long. The night started out magical, gazing at the few stars we could make out past the city lights, and then it started to take over. The great outdoors. Wildlife would creep in and on and around our pajamas until we could barely stand it any longer. Within the first 20 minutes or so we were always back in our beds, safely sleeping amongst the warm blankets and bug-less pillows. Thanks Olivia for playing along with me! You seem like the kinda gal that wouldn’t mind a bug or two!

A bug or two…this girl never wears shoes, hates to have her hair brushed, loves camping and going to the beach in her UGGS or Rainbows….but insists on PRINCESS dresses at all hours of the day??? I don’t think she’d mind a bug as long as it’s wearing a tiara! You are the best…as always, your photos are amazing…I can’t wait to see all of them! xoxo B

these are so fun!! Love them!

I’m on twitter (question mark)

Bosh Images has a twitter account. At first it caused me anxiety to come up with clever things on the whim throughout the day. But once I let go of the fact that I am not super witty, and that that is okay, I started posting updates. I only mention this because if you would like to connect via twitter that would be cool. I need as many people as I can so I can start re-tweeting what you say!

And boy am I on a roll with this blog posting! I feel super motivated today. But beware, these eyes are a knockout in their own right! Not to mention such a hot mamma! Nice to meet you sweet Ava.
