Newport Pier, Pets and Pretty Hair

Bringing pets to a photo shoot guarantees genuine smiles and loads of fun. Pets have a way of bringing out the most joyful smiles in children, and when the crazy photographer lady is a bit too much, they have someone on their side.

If you are looking for a great shoot, it isn’t such a bad idea to have them tag along.

Having kids bring a bit of themselves to the shoot such as a surfboard is also a great way to capture authentic and personal memoirs of who they are today, things you want to remember forever. But where ever you decide to shoot your family photos, it should be a spot where your kids can have fun, and play!

Working with Animals, and a few family members

Like when I had a great dog, and a beautiful newborn to love on. But this session included four pets, three dogs and a gorgeous horse! It was a perfect night, at a beautiful location. Letting the kids play and have a good time is the best kind of session I could imagine, even if it meant trying to splash the photographer with a little creek-side-rock-throwing action. I have to say, I have little experience, but tons of love for horses, and this dream horse was fun to work with. Even though I feel like a junior high girl with my new horse love, I am ready to tackle my next family with a horse! Such a joy!!

Laguna Beach, time to play

california-beach-photographybrother-sister-photogrpahybeach-photography-brother-sisterdog-toy-photographyfamily-photography-orange-countyWhat started out as a product shoot, turned into a family session. How could I resist snapping photos of this beautiful, loving family?

Years ago, Stacy could always convince me, even if I packed my lunch, to go out and chat. That was during the 45 minutes you get as a teacher. Who could resist a plate of nachos from Baja Fresh compared to a cold pb&j? Not me for one. But now, both of us at home with our babies, neither of us are teaching, and yet we found the chance to be together again. Nacho-less, but equally fun. It was so nice to catch up Stacy!

Dog Days: Newport Beach Pet Photography

dog-at-the-beachdoggie-at-beachdog-photo-at-beachdog-and-owner-beachI can remember back the day my husband came home with a birthday present for “me”.  A yellow Labrador puppy! she was my everything. It was comical the times I would take Sandy as a puppy to the beach and have a full on photo shoot to try and capture that cute puppiness. Of course she was more interested in the sealife, water, sticks, leftover picnic lunches than looking at the camera. But looking back at those pictures is pure bliss. Simpler times for sure.

So, it was a bit out of my element to come photograph this sweet dog and her owner, I almost didn’t think I should. I love families, love everything about capturing the connection, the love, the laughter that is found with kids and parents. But I was surprising blessed this special day. This session inspired me in a huge way that I wasn’t prepared for. LOVED every second of it, and it reminded me of so many things like keeping my puppy off the bed at night, the way her wet fur smelled at the beach, and the first time she swam out passed the breakers with me. Thank you Gidget!
